SCROLL

Hi STAY HEALTHY. STAY SUPPLE. FEEL GREAT.

SO WHAT IS VINYASA YOGA?

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, also known as Ashtanga Yoga, is a style of yoga codified and
popularized by K. Pattabhi Jois,  and which is often promoted as a modern-day form of classical Indian yoga

VINYASA

Vinyasa means "breath-synchronized movement," and Vinyasa yoga is a series of poses that will move you through the power of inhaling and exhaling. Vinyasa movements are smoothly flowing and almost dance-like.  Vinyasa has both mental and physical benefits. Physically, sweat expels toxins and re-energizes your body. Mentally, the synchronized breathing relaxes your mind and helps to release any blockage of energy flow throughout your body.

BREATH

The breathing style used in
Vinyasa Yoga is referred to as
"free breathing with sound" or
"normal breath with free flow".
This breathing is characterized
by a relaxed diaphragmatic style, producing an ocean sound,
which resonates in the
practitioner's throat.

BANDHAS

Another major principle
of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
is the bandha, or muscle locking/contraction, which focuses energy in the body and is  closely tied to the breath.

TRACY HOLMAN YOGA

I began my journey when I entered a yoga room searching for another way to move my body and I did not expect to discover my purpose. Through my yoga practice, I adopted a deep appreciation for the breath, a compassionate connection with the body, methods of stilling the mind and dwelling in the peace within the heart. I knew exactly what I wanted to do, help others find their passion.

I trained as a teacher through Union Yoga where I had the privilege of being taught by Brain Cooper who's knowledge and practice was an inspiration.

As a mother of three and realising the positive affect yoga has on children I decided to broaden my teaching skills. I completed the Yoga Bananas course which introduces children to yoga through stories and games. Not only has this enriched my own learning but seeing children explore their imagination and enjoying physical activity through the yoga postures has been a joy.

In 2014 I studied under the amazing Nadia Narain at Triyoga London to achieve my pregnancy and postnatal yoga teacher training. This was a lovely way to revisit my own pregnancies and to fully understand and appreciate the changing female body. See Pregnancy Yoga schedule below for classes.
